Donaire is set to make his debut at the junior featherweight division against Vazquez on February 4 at the Alamadome in San Antonio, Texas. A win against Vazquez puts him in a position to face either Arce or Nishioka in his next match. In an interview with 8 Count News, Donaire revealed that his fans are looking forward to him facing Arce. "I think fan-wise, it has to be Arce. There are a lot of fans out there that want to see that fight happen, to see how I do with a guy that pressures," he said. Arce is currently the WBO bantamweight champion and is ranked 10th in The RING's bantamweight rankings. He has previously held the WBO super bantamweight championship. Nishioka, meanwhile, is currently No. 1 in The RING's junior featherweight rankings and holds the WBC junior featherweight belt. "The Japanese kid (Nishioka) is one of the guys who I want to fight because I believe he's one of the top guys in the division," Donaire said. Donaire and Vazquez will battle for the now vacant WBO super bantamweight title. If the "Filipino Flash" is triumphant in that bout, he can challenge Nishioka in what will be a title-unification match. Donaire said he has already talked to his promoter, Top Rank's Bob Arum, about putting together a fight against either Arce or Nishioka. "Those are the guys I really want to fight," he said.
